Obituary

Victor M. Mendes passed away on July 24, 2014. He was 83 years old.

Victor was born and raised in Portugal and a member of the Portuguese Military. He moved to the United States in 1975 and was a longtime resident of Somerville, Sandwich and Malden.

Victor was the devoted husband of 59 years to Joaquina (Faias) Mendes. He was the beloved father of M. Joao Mendes of Malden, Filomena Santos of Somerville, Gabriela Walsh of Sandwich, and Manuela Hir of Sandwich. Victor was the dear brother of Maria Helena Duarte of Lisbon, Portugal and the late Cesar Mendes. He was the cherished grandfather of Natasha Evitts, Nuna Santos, Gabriela Walsh, Casey Walsh, and Allison Hir, and great grandfather of Hunter Evitts and Jackson Heard.

The funeral will be held from the A. J. Spadafora Funeral Home 865 Main Street, Malden on Monday July 28th at 9:00a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph's Church 770 Salem Street, Malden at 10:00a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours are Sunday July 27th from 2-5p.m. Entombment will be in Holy Cross Chapel Hill Mausoleum.
