Obituary

Robert J. "Bob" Gilligan went home to be with his savior Jesus, on Saturday, April 25, 2026.

Born on January 23, 1945, to John and Lillian (Caswell) Gilligan, he was a life-long resident of Malden, and long-time resident of Edgeworth.

He is survived by his 3 sons Larry, Tom, and Brendan, their spouses, and his most treasured 4 grandsons and granddaughter. He is also survived by his brother Paul, several nephews and nieces, and his best friend of many years, Bobby Consalvi.

Bob was predeceased by his beloved brothers John and Larry, and his loving sister Jean.

Bob was larger than life, had an infectious smile and a great laugh. He loved spending time with family and friends, reading the Bible and sharing about his faith. He also loved attending church, telling "dad" jokes, and talking politics. He was a huge Red Sox and Patriots fan and could often be found watching a game. He will be sorely missed by his family, his friends and caretakers.

Calling hours will be at the A.J. Spadafora Funeral Home in Malden, at 865 Main St. Malden, MA on Wednesday April 29th, 2026 from 5 to 8pm.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday April 30, 2026 at 10:00am at Glendale Christian Lighthouse Church, 701 Broadway, Everett MA 02149.

The service will be followed by a Christian burial at Forestdale Cemetery in Malden.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Glendale Christian Lighthouse Church, 701 Broadway, Everett 02149, where Bob was a long-time member and former Deacon.
