Obituary

Robert Berte passed away suddenly on February 16, 2011. He was 61 years old.

Born and raised in Everett, Robert later moved to Malden where he had been a resident for many years. He worked for Mass Bay Commuter Rail, formerly B&M Railroad, and Amtrak where he was an employee for over 30 years. He also served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Era. Robert loved spending time with his family and playing his guitar with his friends.

Robert was the devoted husband of Tammy (Ponn) Berte, his wife of 35 years. He was the son of the late Dominic and Jennie (Maimone) Berte and the son in-law of Richard Ponn and his late wife Beverly. Robert was the beloved father of Maria Berte Gird of Georgia, Joseph Berte of Georgia and Richard Berte and his fiancé Sheerin Hosieni of Malden. He was the dear brother of Linda, Lorraine, Joanne, Debra, William and the late Dominic. Robert was the cherished grandfather of Devin and Korina Berte and Jaydlin Gird and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held from the A. J. Spadafora Funeral Home, 865 Main Street, Malden on Monday, February 21st at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment will be private.
