Obituary

Mary Ellen Lanigan passed away in her sleep on January 15, 2022, at age 64.
Mary Ellen grew up in New Brunswick, Canada, together with her twin sister Betty Anne, brothers Dan and Tim, parents J. Ed and Connie. After renting for a few years in Everett, MA, the family bought a house in Malden, which became Mary Ellen's long term home.
Mary Ellen underwent a health scare in her early twenties, contracting aplastic anemia. Her twin sister Betty contributed the 1st bone marrow transplant between twins in medical history in 1979.
Mary Ellen was a medical transcriptionist at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and could be seen feeding birds and small animals at the nearby park. She was a caretaker for her mother and was known for her kindness.
She is survived by her sister Betty, brother Tim and his wife Yvonne, nieces and nephews: Daniel Lanigan; Colleen and husband Michael Burnham, their children Olivia, Josh and Isaiah; Bonnie and her husband Andy Rooney, their daughter Chloe; and Frank Lanigan.
The family will observe a private remembrance, and no flowers or donations are necessary.
