Stephanie Krch, a beloved mother, daughter, sister, and aunt passed away peacefully at her home in her daughter’s arms shortly after midnight on October 17, 2026, at the age of 67, following a brief battle with cancer.
Born and raised in Burlington, Massachusetts, Stephanie graduated from Burlington High School in 1978. With deep family roots in Charlestown, Massachusetts, through the Lailer family, she went on to become a longtime resident of Malden, where she built a life filled with family, friendships, and her love for animals.
Stephanie’s passion for animals, especially dogs, led her to open Tails Are Wagging, one of the first dog daycare and boarding facilities in Malden. She turned her love for dogs into something special, creating a business inspired by her genuine affection for them. Animals were always close to her heart, and caring for them was one of the many ways she expressed her love.
Stephanie loved gardening and tending to her plants. She was happiest with a cup of tea in the sunshine and had a special love for nature and the ocean.
Stephanie had a fun-loving side and a way of bringing smiles to those around her. She wasn't afraid to let loose and have a little fun, and those who knew her will remember her memorable performances of “YMCA” while standing on a chair encouraging others to join in. These moments captured her playful spirit and created memories that will continue to bring smiles for years to come.
Stephanie leaves behind her loving daughter, Tara Krch, and Tara’s partner, Allan Veilleux; her beloved mother, Dorothy Krch; her sisters, Jami Krch-Ellis and her spouse, Trevor Ellis, Kelley Krch, Michele Price and her spouse, Thomas Price; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, James Krch, of Uniontown, Pennsylvania.
She was also the proud dog mama of Skyla Ann and Harley Davidson, and the proud nana to her grand-puppies, Brownie Boy, Tico Bells, and Twix.
Stephanie was loved beyond words. Her absence leaves a hole in the hearts of those who loved her, but her memory will live on in the plants she nurtured, the animals she adored, the places she loved, and the stories that will continue to be shared about her.
Rest peacefully, Mom. You fought so hard. You were so deeply loved, and you will be loved forever.
Visitation will be held at A. J. Spadafora Funeral Home, 865 Main Street, Malden, MA, on Sunday October 25th from 10:00am-1:00pm. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
