Joseph A. Gianatassio, a longtime resident of Malden passed away on November 5, 2026, at home. Joe was 87 years old. 

Joseph was born and grew up in Malden, MA. He was a graduate of Everett High School and worked for the United States Postal Service for over 36 years. 

Joseph was the beloved husband of the late Patricia C. Gianatassio. He was the son of the late Alexander and Mary (Brescia) Gianatassio. Joseph was the loving father of Dr. Mark Gianatassio and his wife Barbara of Wilmington, Matthew Gianatassio and his wife Diane of Topsfield, and the late Julie Ann Gianatassio. He was the dear brother of the late Anne Rushton and her husband Al, and Mary Jo Gianatassio. Joseph was the cherished grandfather of Danielle, Nicole and Isabella Gianatassio; also Robert Fisher and his wife Jaime, and Lauren Fisher. He leaves his great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. 

The funeral will be held from the A. J. Spadafora Funeral Home, 865 Main Street, Malden on Thursday, November 12th at 9:00 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Immaculate Conception Parish, 600 Pleasant Street, Malden at 10:00 am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 3-7 pm. Entombment will be at Holy Cross Mausoleum, Malden.
