John Gazzola passed away on November 28, 2012. He was 96 years old.
Born in Boston, John served in the U.S. Naval Reserves from July 25, 1936 to June 3, 1941. He enlisted in the United States Navy on October 13, 1943 and served until October 1, 1945. He was awarded 3 medals for his service: American Campaign, Asiatic-Pacific and WWII Victory Medal. John worked for Amtrak in South Station as an Information Clerk from 1940 to 1977. He had a great sense of humor and was a caring person.
John was the devoted husband of the late Elizabeth (Orsini) Gazzola and the beloved father of John Gazzola of Somerville. He was the dear brother of Linda DeVito and the late Louis Gazzola and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from the A. J. Spadafora Funeral Home, 865 Main Street, Malden on Monday, December 3rd from 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. followed by a graveside service in Forest Dale Cemetery, Malden. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
In lieu of flowers, donations in John's memory may be made to The Jimmy Fund, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168.
