Obituary

Frederick J. McGovern Jr. passed away on April 6, 2015. He was 81 years old.

Fred was a longtime resident of Malden and Medford. He was a United States Marine Veteran during the Korean Conflict and a longtime employee as a Pipe Coverer for Local 6 Asbestos Workers. Fred was also a longtime member and Chairman of the Board at the Irish American Club in Malden.

Fred was the devoted husband of Barbara (Gill) McGovern. He was the beloved father of Frederick "Rick" McGovern III and his wife Denise of Medford. Fred was the loving brother of Bob McGovern and his wife Ann, Larry McGovern and his wife MaryAnn, and the late Bernard "Bernie" McGovern, William McGovern, Carolyn Amigo, and George Ross. He was the cherished grandfather of Eric and Ami McGovern and Courtney Almeida. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held from the A. J. Spadafora Funeral Home 865 Main Street, Malden on Friday April 10th at 9:00a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in the Immaculate Conception Church 600 Pleasant Street, Malden at 10:00a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours are Thursday April 9th from 4-8p.m. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
