Edward (Ed) James Helein Sr. Age 86 of Saugus, formerly of Burlington, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2026, at his home.
Ed was born on January 24th, 1940, in Wakefield, Mass. to Edward and Dorothy Helein. Ed spent much of his life in Everett before moving to Burlington where he raised his family.
Ed is survived by his devoted wife of 57 Years, Linda (Santa Lucia) as well as his siblings Alan Helein (late wife Janice) of Melrose, and Sharon King (late husband Thomas) of Saugus. His (4) children Kim Galluzzo her husband John, Tamara Winters (late husband Lee), Edward J. Helein Jr. and his wife Colleen, Michael Helein and his wife Conan, and his ten beloved grandchildren John Michael and his wife Lori, Maria and Jordan Galluzzo (Kim), Billy Restivo, Keira, Mia and Devon Helein (Edward Jr.) Mary Shaffer, Vera and Rocco Helein (Michael) as well as several Nieces and Nephews.
Ed served 8 years in the Army National Guard out of Malden. Ed spent his professional career as a Machinist at Raytheon in Andover. Ed and Linda found a calling in life serving others through Christ supporting engaged couples as they prepared for a life in marriage within their church. But his true purpose in life was always his undeniable devotion to his wife, his children and grandchildren.
A Memorial service/celebration of life will be held on Saturday April 11th at the A.J. Spadafora Funeral Home, 865 Main Street, Malden from 1:00pm-3:00pm followed by a service in the funeral home at 3:00pm. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations in Edward's memory may be made to St Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Ed was a giant in the lives of all who loved him, he was the greatest example of love and devotion to his family. Forever giving, never complaining! Ed will be remembered most for being the wisest of the wise, the funniest of the funny and wittiest of the witty.
He will forever be missed by all.
