Obituary

Dennis M. Sullivan, Army veteran, and accomplished Quality Inspection Engineer, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2026, at Melrose Wakefield Hospital. Born on June 9, 1946, in Lynn, Massachusetts.

Dennis was a proud graduate of Salem State College, where he laid the foundation for a distinguished career. He began his professional journey with prestigious companies such as General Electric and Wang Labs before dedicating many years as a Quality Inspection Engineer at Boeing. 

A true son of Lynn, Dennis cherished his roots and the values instilled during his upbringing there. His service as an Army veteran was a testament to his sense of duty and patriotism, qualities he carried throughout his life.

Outside of work, Dennis found joy in his family. He was a devoted husband to Barbara A. (Cowan) Sullivan, with whom he shared many memorable moments dining out, and travelling. Together, they enjoyed trips to Las Vegas, Atlantic City, and numerous local casinos, embracing the thrill of the journey and the richness of shared experiences. Dennis also delighted in visiting family and was a familiar and welcomed presence at local flea markets, where his keen eye for a good deal was well known.

 His loving parents, Edwin Sullivan and Dorothy (Craig) Sullivan; his cherished wife, Barbara; daughters Laura Cowan of New York and Malinda Sullivan of Odessa, Florida; and his brother Thomas Sullivan of Charlestown. He also is fondly remembered by his brother-in-law James Walsh and his wife Alice of Perrysburg, Ohio, as well as four grandchildren, several nieces, and nephews. Dennis is mourned by all who knew him, including memories shared of his late brother Richard Sullivan of Lynn.

Throughout his life, Dennis M. Sullivan exemplified integrity, warmth, and a genuine kindness. His legacy endures not only in the accomplishments he achieved but most importantly in the love and joy he brought to his family and friends. His memory will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to know him. Dennis will be deeply missed, remembered with great respect and affection.
