Obituary

Claire Marie (Lord) Newnan passed away at home on January 8, 2025. She was 76 years old.

Claire grew up in Davis Square in Somerville and was a graduate of North Cambridge Catholic High School. She moved to Malden in 1971 where she lived for the remaining years of her life, raising her family and living on Tyler Street until her husband Bob passed in 2005. She raised two sons who both graduated from Malden High School and remain a part of the Malden community in various ways. She worked as a legal secretary in Medford for decades and was known to many.

Claire was the wife of the late Robert Newnan, originally from East Boston. She is survived by her youngest son Brian and his wife Stephenie (Pappas) of Malden; her older son Kevin, his wife Lisa (Shukiar) of West Hills, CA; and their two children - her beloved granddaughters Cayla and Elyssa Newnan - both also of West Hills, CA. She is also survived by her brother Dennis Lord of Chicago and sister Mary Loosen of Tewksbury, along with four beloved nephews, two beloved nieces, and many grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held at the A. J. Spadafora Funeral Home, 865 Main Street, Malden on Sunday, January 12 from 4pm to 6pm. A funeral service will be held at the same location on Monday, January 13 at 10am. Burial will be at Forest Dale Cemetery in Malden.
