Obituary

Beverly Bateman Bamford, 88, of Harpswell, Maine, died Sunday Dec. 6, 2015 at the Colonial Rehabilitation and Nursing home in Weymouth, Mass.

She was born in Saugus, Mass. June 4, 1927, the daughter of William James Bateman, Sr. and Edith M. (Barry) Bateman. She graduated from Saugus High School, and Salem Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse, and was a member of the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps. She practiced nursing at Boston Children's Hospital and Danvers State Hospital.

She married Rodney E. Bamford in Cliftondale, Mass., on Oct. 29, 1948. They lived in Saugus and Concord until they retired to Harpswell, Maine in 1983 where she had spent many summers of her youth with her Father and Mother on the family farm on Casco Bay.

Beverly spent her early married life raising her two children. Once her children were grown, she re-entered nursing in dermatology in Concord. While in Concord, she cultivated all forms of beautiful orchids. After retiring to Harpswell, she pursued her interests in the arts through watercolor painting of the beautiful woodland and seashore landscapes around her Harpswell home. She had a deep love of nature and animals. She was an avid reader and enjoyed being with her family and friends.

Survivors include a daughter, Sue Bamford, and her husband, Brent Blair, of Salem, Oregon, a son Scott Bamford and his wife, Tricia, of Attleboro, Mass., four grandchildren (Michael and Lauren Bamford, Jesse Blair and Mina Blair-Cameron), and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at the A. J. Spadafora Funeral Home 865 Main Street, Malden on Monday, December 28, 2015 from 9:30a.m. - 12:00p.m. A service will be held at 11:30a.m. during the visitation. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment will be in Forest Dale Cemetery, Malden.
