Obituary

Anthony C. "Tony" Perna, of Saugus, formerly of Malden, passed away on April 8, 2019. He was 70 years old.

Tony was a retired Police officer for the City of Malden and a member of the Italian American Citizens Club of Malden. He was a United States Navy Vietnam Veteran and member of the U. S. Naval Construction Battalion, better known as the Seabees.

Tony was the Beloved husband of Maureen A. (O'Brien) Perna and her loving granddaughter Kyera Edeman. He was the father of Dawn Piracini, Tara Perna, and Toni Marie Evans. Tony was the brother of Stephen Perna, Gerald Perna, Christopher Perna, Florence Chiara, Frances Downing, and the late William Pike and Christine Perna. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and his loving nephew Frank Chiara and his wife Sherry.

The funeral will be held from the A. J. Spadafora Funeral Home, 865 Main Street, Malden on Friday April 12th at 9:00am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Blessed Sacrament Church, 16 Summer Street, Saugus at 10:00am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-8pm. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Saugus.
